Bennington is About to Get Pickleball-ier – Six New Courts in the Works!
Town officials push for more pickleball courts in Bennington
Bennington, Vermont, is gearing up for a serious pickleball glow-up! The town could soon see six brand-new pickleball courts at Willow Park, thanks to a grant application that just got the green light from the Select Board.
What’s the Deal?
- The town is applying for a $154,799 grant from the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation.
- The total project cost? About $309,598.
- The remaining funds will come from in-kind contributions and the Pennies for Parks fund.
- If the grant comes through, construction is set to begin in summer 2026.
Why Pickleball, Though?
Because it’s America’s fastest-growing sport, and Bennington is all in! The local Pickleball Club has been thriving, with over 100 active players every year for the past three years. What started with a single taped court at Mount Anthony Union High School in 2015 has turned into a town-wide movement.
